Aftermath of Burning of Cork, December 1920

Buildings in the St. Patrick Street area, Cork City Hall and the Carnegie Library were burnt on 11 December 1920 during the Irish War of Independence. The fire resulted from a rampage by Crown forces, following an Irish Republican Army ambush at Dillon’s Cross, Cork.
